Chevrolet was originally founded in 1911 by William C. Durant, who had been forced out of General Motors (GM) the previous year, and Louis Chevrolet. In 1916 Durant became a majority shareholder in GM and became president of GM in 1917, at which point Chevrolet became a separate division at GM. Some of the famous Chevrolet vehicles include the Chevrolet Impala, the Chevrolet Corvair, the Chevrolet Comaro and the Chevrolet Corvette.
