The original Ford GT40 was a purpose built endurance race car the was built by Ford in collaboration with Lola. The GT40 was powered by large displacement 4.7-liter and 7.0-liter Ford V8 engines and went on to win the 24 hours of Le Mans four times in a row, from 1966 to 1969.
