The front-wheel drive Honda Civic is the second longest running production car after the Toyota Corolla. The first Honda Civic was introduced in July 1972 as a two-door coupe and was followed in September 1972 by a three-door hatchback. The Civic soon gained a reputation for fuel-efficiency and reliable. Later versions of the Civic such as the Honda Civic Si and the Honda Civic Type-R also gained a reputation for performance and sportiness.
