The now discontinued Honda Prelude is a two-door sports coupe that was first introduced in November 1978. It competed against sports coupes such as the Toyota Celica, the Nissan Silvia, the Mitsubishi Eclipse, and the Mazda MX-6. The first Honda Prelude was based on the second-generation Honda Civic as a base and shared the four wheel independent struts, brakes and floorpan with the Honda Civic while the engine was sourced from the Honda Accord. The Honda Prelude went through another four generations, becoming Honda's flagship sports coupe model, but was discontinued in late 2001 due to decreasing sales.
