Kia Motors was originally founded in 1994 as a manufacturer of steel tubing and bicycle parts in South Korea. In 1957 Kia started manufacturing motorcycles and started manufacturing trucks in 1962. Twelve years later the company produced its first car. In 1986, the company, in partnership with Ford, started producing Mazda derived vehicles. Today, Kia Motors is the second largest automobile manufacturer in South Korea. The company has its headquarters in Seoul and is partly owned by the Hyundai Kia Automotive Group.
