Nissan began participating in rally events as early as the 1930s under the Datsun brand name. It’s first international rally was the 1958 Australia Mobil Gas Trial. Nissan turned its attention to the East African Safari Rally in 1963 and won the event in a Datsun 240Z in 1970. Nissan also won the Canadian Winter Rally in 1967, in a Datsun Bluebird 411 SSS.
